A summary of 2008

I started this yesterday, but there was a huge spider so I had to run and hide otherwise I would have died.

(That RHYMED!)


I will try to remember as much as I can. But sadly, it is before noon, so my memory is a bit faulty.


2008 started off with an uber-fun New Year's party with my friends~ We watched the 58th Kouhaku Uta Gassen and ran around the park at night. =D We're repeating it tomorrow, too~

Finals in January. I don't think I failed any...

I started my blog. =D

I slipped the guy I like a note that told him that I like him. And NOTHING CHANGED! xD

...What else?

I took and passed the CAHSEE (the exit exams).

I took Driver's Ed and Training and got my permit.

I successfully completed my Sophomore year.

Fanime was fun~

I turned 16 and went to Japan for a week.

I returned from the greatest country evar and did a whole bunch of homework. xD


I started my junior year.

I took the PSATs for the second time and didn't die as much.

I wrote a whole bunch of timed writes and DBQs in my AP classes.

I discovered the love of my life, group dubbing.

And I signed up for Fanime 2009. Number 1017!

Physics first period, AP History third, Japanese Pre-final fifth, and a Physics retake after school.

So from... 7:30 to 1 I was constantly testing.

On Friday we had a Christmas party for Anime Club. Nate came. x3 It was a lot of fun (but short). I thought my heart was going to burst, though. xD

[Review] COVER YOU

Morning Musume's new album... (Sorta)

A cover album seemed like a horrifying thought at first, but after the high success of Pepper Keibu and Romance, it didn't seem so bad.

I'm listening it to the first time now, so let's go song by song and hear my initial reactions, okay?


UFO: The 'UFO' at the beginning is cool. xD And I like the beat~ However, it's a little too... I dunno. There's just something about it that irks me. ^^;

Jonii e no Dongon: Is this a Risa solo? Holy geez, she just keeps on getting better and better. It does seem like her kind of song, too. It suits her voices. This has just won me over, just because Risa is easily the strongest vocalist in MM right now. With Ai coming up second, and Linlin coming third. (But I'm certain that Junjun could kick Linlin out of third place with just a little more vocal training).

Dou ni mo Tomaranai: This seems like the most MM song so far. xD I really like it. It's pretty Risa/Ai-centered, but that's to be expected. They do a good job. However, it's a little hard to tell voices apart because they all sing so deeply.

(Holy crap, was that a Linlin solo?!)

Pinpon Pan Taisou: Ew. Koharu is never a good speaking choice. Dx This is really cute. I can see it being sung by W or someone. Probably W, or even Mini Moni. xDD Is it a Koha/Shige duet? They actually blend together really well. Whomever it is.

Pepper Keibu: Still fabulous. I'm getting a little tired of it, though. xD

Romance: I lurb it. Did before, still do.

Watashi no Aoi Tori: It's so cute! It reminds me of the Ayaya cover so much! I love it...! It's a very nice rendition, and whomever is singing (can't... tell... entirely... Damn you Ai, with your constantly changing voice...) does an excellent job.

Izakaya: Very 70's... I think. xD

(Who is the old man singing...? Too Enka for me, thank you)

Ai does a nice job. I'd rather have Koharu singing than this old guy. And that's saying something.

Ringo Satsujin Jiken: This reminds of something that might have been in one of the earliest albums... Sounds like it would be fun to dub... =D (One track mind)

Nagisa no Sinbad: Everyone hates this song. I actually kinda like it. *blink* Especially the first part. *shrug* I like it.

Shiroi Chou no Samba: Linlin.... *cries* Junjun. *sobs* This song is my new favorite. Just because the pandas get big parts....

Machi no Akari: Pretty. I have to admit, Ai does a pretty good job at ballad-y songs.

Seishun Jidai: Aww, I was thinking the Pucchimoni Seishun Jidai. xD I don't like it as much as that one, but it's a nice song.

Koi no Dial 6700: I love this song. I fell in love with the Yaguchi cover. xD (Hah, Linlin sings her name *is shot for making the same joke as everyone else*) It's upbeat. Kokoro likes~



Final Verdict:

Good. Doesn't have songs that I automatically fall in love with like other albums (*cough*Ikimasshoi*cough*) but it gets addicting fast. xD

Decent line distribution, especially for Linlin. (Promotion~) However, Ai does get a lot of singing time (as always) and as far as I can tell, there's not much love for Aika. (But I'm bad at telling her and Eri apart. xDD)

I like it, but I would like to request that the next album have a Risa/Junjun duet.

Sorry for not posting in FOREVER. School's been busy, I got sick from my flu vaccination, and all that fun.

Oh, and the guy I like changed schools.

So I've been a little depressed. I mean, it's not too obvious, but even I have noticed I'm not quite as cheerful and energetic as usual.

Anywho, I shamelessly got the guy that I like to watch my video and post a comment. ;D And I liked his comment so much that I decided....


That I, Kokoro, would confess to him.


I already gave him a note saying that I liked him last year, but he blew it off and completely acted as if nothing happened. So I wanted to say it to his face.


On Friday I was ready and pumped up to tell him. I would wait in the Japanese 2 class during seventh period and tell him after school. I knew exactly how it would go: I'd walk with him out of the classroom, and thank him for watching the video. He'd say "no, it's okay" like he always does, and I'd reply with "No, it was really important to me." And then I'd tell him I like him.


It was all going perfectly. I thanked him, and he said, "No, it's okay........" I was doing mental dances of excitement when he added "You sang beautifully".


My head kinda shut down and he joked about the gross ketchup packet I had just barely missed.

Next thing I know, he's already up ahead.

I handed my binder to Leah and ran about two feet before stopping abruptly. xD


If only Maurice wasn't there... I probably would have run after him.


Damn it! Why does he always do things like that...?!


My entire body was trembling and I felt faint afterwards... ^^; I was depressed but incredibly happy at the same time.

I love Avex. I really want to do this. I'll overcome my shyness and sing in front of the world.

They had better do this next year. It is a "20 year anniversary" thing, but they've held several trials in China.

Although, I am sad that Iida won't be performing at the final concert. But I don't think she has performed at all that much lately... She has a kid to support. Like Tsuji.

And because it's such short notice, I feel I should make an alternative version just in case Marsha doesn't want our class to see her swinging like a monkey.

I am angry at Sarah.


So we're working on a project for Japanese, right? We were originally going to get together two weekends ago and work on the script, but I had to go camping. Because Sarah and Marsha are busy with sports and stuff, and I have my own things, the only time we could meet was last Sunday.

We got our photos, made our scripts, and all that fun. Sarah took the script home so she could type it (along with Leah and Marsha's script; we're in separate pairs but working together) and colorcode it. She promised she'd send it to me in the beginning of the week.

I waited. And waited.

I called her last night. She promised she'd send the script early in the morning.

Today. She was out. Greaaaat.

I called her. She forgot to send me the script, and yet again she promised to send it to me ASAP.

Now, it's been over an hour since I called, and there's still no sign of the script. The project is due TOMORROW. I can't do anything unless I have her lines. I need to record my lines, I need the script so I know what order to put the photos.

And she hasn't sent them to me!

We were also supposed to meet up later tonight and film the ending video... The dance from Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari. I practice nonstop yesterday, and had just gotten it down... And she's not coming!

I was really excited, too...

At this rate, I don't even want her to take part. I'll go to her house and get the script if I have to. I'll record everything myself. I'll do everything myself. And Sarah can get a zero. I don't care.

I'm pissed.



And you know what? Leah and Marsha are also getting hurt by this. Sarah was supposed to type their script for them. She hasn't. She can't get it to them in time! So not only do I have to stress out about it (if I had my way, I'd be done with this days ago) but Leah has to do extra work as well...

What has happened lately?

The bruising on the side of my foot has spread all over. Hurray!

My parents just paid for me to get two new retainers. One broke, the other disappeared mysteriously. Eek.

I've been killed by allergies or a cold or something.

So, in an attempt to fix it, my mom bought me whole new bedding.

Daniel Henney has stolen my heart

I demand that every single person who has not yet watched Seducing Mr. Perfect must watch it now.





Kore wa trailer desu.

(This is a Korean movie! Don't ruin it with your crappy Japanese!)


For those of who don't know Korean (I don't know any either, but I saw the movie. xD) it's about a woman named Kim Min Joon who, after being stood up by her boyfriend, has an accident with a good-looking man who quickly proves himself to be a huge jerk.

At the company she works at, Joon is surprised to find that she's been selected to be the assistant to the new company president from the US branch. Much to her surprise, he's the same man she ran into! His name is Robin Heiden, and although he cannot speak Korean, he understands it completely, including Joon's insults from when they met before. (xD)

Joon discovers that her boyfriend is cheating on her and runs into Robin at a bar. Instead of consoling her like any decent man would, he insults her, explaining that she'll always be unhappy in love. Angry, Joon tells him that she could have any guy she wants. Robin then tells her "Then make me beg for you".

So Joon begins her operation to make him fall for her. But she just keeps on messing up and eventually comes to him in order for him to teach her how to be better in love. But soon the two begin to develop feelings for each other, but are too stubborn and wounded by past loves to admit it.





It. Rawks.



Daniel's character is a complete ass at the beginning, but by the end he's the same sweet guy that I fell in love with in My Name is Kim Samsoon. xD

Uhm Jung-hwa is friggin' beautiful.

*Spoiler Alert!* (But when has that ever stopped anyone?)


What I love most about this movie is the language. xD Joon speaks in Korean while Robin speaks in English, and they still understand each other perfectly. You get too used to it, actually. So the last scene of the movie features Joon introducing Robin to her family. Her father asks Robin if he intends on marrying Joon. Robin replies that he does love Joon, but he's not ready to marry her... yet. Joon's brother relays the message, but leaves out the 'yet' from the sentence. So both Joon's parents go crazy, throwing things at Robin, insulting him, and telling Joon to quit her job immediately. It's kind of startling to see people who don't understand English! xD


So, yeah. Watch it. Daniel Henney even speaks in bad Japanese. ;D

Yesterday, I had just signed up for the PSATs and was walking across the quad during lunch. Class yells were going on, so it was pretty crowded considering that it was a Thursday afternoon, when half of the school gets to go home before lunch. Anywho, so I was walking, when all of a sudden I found myself on the ground. xD My papers were everywhere, I heard a crack when I hit pavement, and I was stunned. xD The guys around me laughed. Even the staff were too busy suppressing smiles to help me up.

My foot was killing me, so I limped to the car.

Guess what?

After some careful examination, my mother, who is a nurse, announced that I probably sprained my foot! Chyeah! x3

My foot's all bandaged up and it hurts to walk. And today I had to give tours to eighth graders! Paaaaaiiiiin.

[Review] Skip Beat! Anime

Skip Beat is about a young girl named Mogami Kyoko who moves to Tokyo to be close to her crush, Sho, while he becomes a famous singer. She happily works several jobs to pay the rent for their nice apartment and even though he's out all the time and keeps all of his money for himself. As long as she's with Sho, she doesn't mind. But one night, when she stops by the recording studio to drop off his dinner, Kyoko overhears Sho telling his manager that he really only brought her with him so she could be his maid. In fact, if he had stayed in Kyoto, he would have had to marry Kyoko and watch her take over the family inn! Heartbroken, something in Kyoko snaps and her once pure self is gone. She confronts Sho and declares that she will get her revenge. Sho simply says that in order to get her revenge, she would have to beat him in show business.

And so Kyoko cuts and dyes her hair, moves in with the owners of one of the restaurants she works at, and quickly forces her way into LME, the agency that is famous for being in charge of Tsuruga Ren, Sho's biggest rival (it's one-sided). Having lost all ability to love, Kyoko is placed in the Love Me section where she slowly begins to discover her true talents, forget about Sho, and gradually begins to become close to Ren himself.


Skip Beat! is a series that is very close to my heart. It's none like I've ever seen before. Kyoko is like most anime heroines at the beginning; selfless, innocent, pure, polite, willing to sacrifice everything to just make the one she loves smile. But after the "transformation" she becomes one of the most interesting characters I've ever seen. She still retains a bit of her old self, more as the series goes on, but she also has her "grudge Kyokos", little demons that appear when she is angry or in the presence of great negative feelings. You begin to sympathize with her during her journey to heal her heart and be able to find her place in the world.

Tsuruga Ren is also intriguing. Voted Japan's most handsome bachelor, he can have anything in the world, including women. But he has never been able to truly fall in love because of Kyoko... They had met when they were children and he was immediately smitten with the little girl. So throughout the series he struggles with his growing love for Kyoko and his hesitance concerning their age differences; he's twenty and she's sixteen. Although his nosy manager, Yashiro-san, tells him that four years is nothing, Ren still can't allow himself to care for someone who is still in high school. (It will be interesting to see what he does when Kyoko graduates. ;D)

Although Sho disappears after the first chapter and only makes very brief appearances, he becomes a major character again later in the series. When Kyoko appears in one of his music videos, he is stunned to see how beautiful she looks (with the help of makeup and an angel costume) and everyone begins to wonder if his possessive feelings for her is just simply "she's my maid" or it's actually beginning to form into love...

So with two love interests, one of whom Kyoko hates, and the other Kyoko thought hated her (but later forms a friendship with) Kyoko tries to make her way into the acting world.


Okay! Enough for plot summary and stuff~



Subs for this anime have not yet been released, so I had to watch it without. Good thing I've read the manga so many times! ;D

The opening is not bad. I actually like the animation, but I'm not entirely fond of the song choice. I was hesitant at first; they showed Kyoko as her "old self" for the majority of the opening... Which I found odd, since she's only like that in the first episode. xD

The animation isn't bad. The hair looks a little odd. In the manga it's very soft-looking and relaxed; in the anime it's very spiky and stiff... But the animators do a very good job maintaining the artist's original style, although the guys aren't quite as close as the girls.... The manga has very distinct lines styles that give it its uniqueness, so maybe that's why it doesn't look right.

It's also weird with them actually having color. xD The Love Me uniforms are pink! Really, really pink! xD

So far, the anime follows the manga perfectly. The first episode was really like the entire first chapter put into one. The pacing was off at times (but that's compared to the manga) but it fit really well.


Overall, I am very pleased. The ending is great, too, though I don't like the weird ripply effect they used throughout... It hurt my eyes. xD

But I'll be following this series. Every.... Sunday, is it? =3
